  • 150 g chopped onion
  • 100 g carrots
  • 100 g celery
  • 3 cloves minced garlic

  • 300 g diced ham Use fully cooked ham.
  • 2 cans navy beans, drained About 800g total.
  • 1.5 L chicken broth Low sodium option available.
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 1 tsp salt Adjust based on ham and stock saltiness.
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Preparation

  • In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, carrots, and celery, cooking until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add diced ham, drained navy beans, chicken broth, dried thyme, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper.

Cooking

  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until flavors meld.
  • Remove the bay leaf before serving.
  • Enjoy your warm soup!

Notes

For a creamier soup, mash 1 cup of beans against the pot side and stir to thicken. Store leftovers correctly for extended freshness.
