Ingredients

  • 900 g apples, peeled and sliced
  • 100 g rolled oats
  • 100 g all-purpose flour
  • 75 g brown sugar
  • 115 g cold butter, cubed
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 25 g granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F) and butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  2. Toss apples with 25 g sugar, 1 tbsp lemon juice, and 2 tsp cinnamon.
  3. Rub 115 g cold butter into 100 g flour and 100 g oats until pea-size crumbs form, then stir in 75 g brown sugar.
  4. Spread apples in dish, sprinkle topping evenly, and bake for 35 to 45 minutes until bubbling and golden.
  5. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For deeper crunch, broil 1 to 2 minutes at the end, watching carefully.
