  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • ¼ cup sugar (for strawberries)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; mix in eggs, milk, and butter to make a smooth batter.
  2. Pour batter into greased cake pans and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, butter, and vanilla; bake until golden brown to make shortbread crumbs.
  4. Mix sliced strawberries with sugar and let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Beat heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  6. Layer cake, strawberries, and cream alternately, topping with shortbread crumbs.

Notes

For gluten-free, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. For dairy-free, substitute with coconut whipped cream and almond milk.
