  • 1 tbsp water
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (unsalted)
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic (fresh minced or powdered)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tsp chives (dried or fresh)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp parsley (dried or fresh)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the hot sauce by mixing melted butter with cayenne pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
  2. In another bowl, combine mayo, sour cream, buttermilk, chives, lemon juice, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and sugar to make the dipping sauce.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water. In another, mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, pepper, and salt. Dip mozzarella sticks in the egg mixture, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the breaded mozzarella sticks in small batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Toss the fried mozzarella sticks in the hot sauce immediately to coat them well.
  6. Serve hot with the ranch dipping sauce.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute mozzarella with plant-based cheese and use aquafaba as an egg replacement. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
