Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider buns
  • 1 lb (454 g) Italian deli meats (salami, ham, and pepperoni)
  • 1 lb (454 g) provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup (150 g) roasted red peppers, sliced
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) banana peppers, sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp (1 g) dried oregano
  • 1 tsp (2 g) garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp (1 g) black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp (0.5 g) crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice slider buns in half horizontally and place bottom halves in a large baking dish.
  3. Whisk olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl to make dressing.
  4. Drizzle half the dressing over the bottom bun halves.
  5. Layer half of the provolone over the buns.
  6. Arrange deli meats evenly over the cheese.
  7. Add roasted red peppers and banana peppers on top of the meats.
  8. Place remaining provolone slices over the peppers, drizzle remaining dressing, then top with bun tops.
  9. Cover dish with foil, bake for 15 minutes, remove foil, then bake for another 10–15 minutes until tops are golden and cheese is fully melted.
  10. Let cool a few minutes, garnish with basil, slice into 12 sliders, and serve.

Notes

Using day-old slider buns helps them absorb the dressing without becoming soggy. Toaster the cut sides of the buns under the broiler for added texture.
