Ingredients

Scale
  • 3-4 lbs chicken tenders
  • 1 pint buttermilk
  • 3 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic (grated)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1-2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Ranch dressing (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Combine buttermilk, hot sauce, garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken tenders, ensuring they are submerged, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a saucepan, combine honey, water, chipotle peppers, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan. Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in seasoned flour, then carefully place in hot oil.
  5. Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F.
  6. Drizzle honey chipotle sauce over the chicken tenders and serve with ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

Store leftover chicken tenders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven to preserve the crispiness.
