Delicious homemade pizza hot pockets filled with lean protein, cheese, and tomato sauce for a nutritious snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cooked shredded lean chicken breast
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix warm water with yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture, kneading until smooth.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  5. Combine chicken, cheese, pizza sauce, and Italian seasoning in a bowl.
  6. Place a spoonful of the mixture onto each dough square and fold them into pockets, sealing the edges.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Brush with olive oil before baking for a crisper crust. For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of parmesan.
