Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup beef broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
12 count Hawaiian rolls
Provolone or American cheese
4 tablespoons butter
1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, diced onion, and chopped green pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender, about 2 to 4 minutes.
In a measuring cup, whisk together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, cornstarch, and beef broth until smooth.
Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine, then cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
Use a serrated knife to slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves in a baking dish.
Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the bottom rolls. Layer the cheese slices on top, then add the top half of the rolls.
In a bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush or pour it over the tops of the rolls.
Cover the pan loosely with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are lightly golden.
Let cool slightly before cutting. Serve warm.
