A fast, comforting weeknight dinner featuring browned ground beef in a rich cream and Parmesan sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) penne pasta
  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup (90 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta until al dente, 9 to 11 minutes, drain and reserve 1 cup (240 ml) pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tsp olive oil over medium heat, sauté diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef, break apart and brown until no pink remains, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Lower heat, stir in heavy cream. Gradually add reserved pasta water until desired sauce consistency is reached. Mix in grated Parmesan until melted.
  5. Combine cooked penne with sauce in the skillet, tossing gently to coat. Serve hot, garnish with extra Parmesan or parsley if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet with milk or reserved pasta water to re-emulsify.
