A delightful spin on the classic chocolate chip cookie baked as one large, shareable treat, perfect for gatherings and versatile enough for any taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
  7. Drop large balls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft, about 12-15 minutes.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For gluten-free, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. For vegan, substitute butter with vegan butter and eggs with flax eggs.
